Ghazala Irshad is The Marshall Project's Style and Standards Editor. She develops the organization’s editorial standards and promotes best practices for reporting and writing by training staff to ensure the organization's work is accurate, clear, fair and legally sound.
Throughout her career as an editor and reporter, Ghazala has covered beats ranging from race and gender to gun legislation. She also reported on abuses of power during the Arab Spring in Egypt, while pursuing her master's degree in TV and digital journalism from the American University in Cairo. She holds a certificate in entrepreneurial journalism from the CUNY Tow-Knight Center and a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
